Who we are

Hexplain.it is run by Yorkshire Software Solutions Ltd, the data controller for any personal data described here.

Your diagrams

In the free version your diagram is kept in your own browser and in any files you save. We do not receive it unless you share it. Clearing your browser data removes it, so save a file to keep a copy. If you make a share link, we store a copy of that diagram so people with the link can view it. When you stop sharing, the copy is deleted straight away.

How the site is used

To learn what helps and what gets in the way, we record anonymous actions such as pages visited, layer buttons pressed, hexagons and layers added, and the export format chosen. We never record the words or content of your diagram.

We do not use cookies for this. Each visit gets a random number that is forgotten when you close the tab, and it cannot identify you.

Feedback

If you send feedback we keep your message and, only if you give it, your email address. We use your email only to reply about that feedback, and we never share or sell it. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest in improving the product, or your consent where you choose to give an email.

Where data is stored

Data is stored with trusted hosting providers in the United Kingdom and the European Union, currently in Ireland. If that changes it will stay within the UK or EU, or with safeguards that UK data protection law recognises.

How long we keep it

Anonymous usage records are kept for up to 24 months. Feedback is kept for as long as it helps improve the product, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Contact Yorkshire Software Solutions Ltd to make a request. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
